The Finger Mouse REVIEW

Remember when we wrote that your life could be surrounded by Tech without burning a hole in your pocket, well, we took it seriously.So, here's the review of one such gadget.

A mouse is of the most essential components of the computer which allows the user to exercise control over software components. We guess you already know this.

But,a traditional mouse requires a mouse-pad, be it a laser one or a ball one. So, here comes a mouse which can be controlled without the use of any mouse-pad.All it requires is a surface, and by a surface, we literally mean any surface, right from the palm of your hand to any lucky cushion or even your keyboard!!!!!

• So, What Exactly is this Finger Mouse Thing??

To be precise, this is another advancement in technology which is meant to spoil the user. It was created with a view to relax the user from the discomfort of lifting your finger to click. Oh boy!! But yes, it can get a bit discomforting to work with a Laptop's Track-pad. So, in comes the Finger Mouse. Like its name, this very

compact mouse can be worn on your finger with the help of a strap. Wow! It must have been designed by a Tech Geek, with a view to use it as a wedding ring!!

• How Does It Actually Work??

It works on the same principle as that of a Laser Mouse as it also projects a Laser. The only difference being in the dimensions of the Mouse. To be honest, this Finger Mouse completely changes your visual perception of a mouse. It does not resemble a Mouse, but still the word Mouse is not a misnomer as it still allows

you to control the cursor on the Computer Screen. All that you need to do is to hold the Mouse over any surface such that the Laser is reflected back into the body of the Mouse, and you will be able to control the cursor. It is advised that the user should wear the mouse in his index finger, as this allows him to click the buttons on the body of the mouse with the thumb. So, now you can actually Right/Left Click with your Thumb. It even provides the user with the facility to scroll. In Short, it works on the basic principle that the whole body of the mouse, which was designed to fit in the palm, is not required. Though it was not designed

with a motive to save space, it ends up saving a few minuscules of space.

                              

• Is It As Effective As The Conventional Mouse??

Using it for over a month now, and we feel that it is as effective as any other Mouse. Dragging the Cursor or clicking it never posed a problem.

Yes, there are certain flaws, but we shall discuss them a bit later.

                              

• What About Gaming With This Mouse??

Now this is the most pleasing section when it comes to a review!! We most often use a Mouse in First Person Shooting Games. So, in order to give it a try, we strapped the mouse into the Right Hand Index Finger. Traditionally, the right hand is usually on the movement controls, so, to strap the mouse on the Right seems to be a sensible option. Onward with the game now, the mouse poses no problem when the character moves and to access the mouse controls, all that you have to do is to bend your finger such that it is near a screen, which in this case, can be the arrow keys as well. WOW! So, instead of moving your hand, all that you have to do is bend your right index finger. To our style of play, it does not act as a hurdle, but to Hardcore Gamers, it shall not be the most pleasing device. Then again, we do not intend to compare this to a Joystick. The Joystick would win any day!! But, for all the other Gamers out there who still prefer a keyboard and a mouse, this New Finger Mouse deserves a chance.(PS: It took us about 2 hours to write this section alone. If you know what we mean!!)

• THE BUSINESS PART

-What We Like

1. Trendy- Cool to look at, one can immediately make an impression while using this device.
2. Light Weight- A Conventional Mouse Weighs Around 65gms, A Wireless Mouse Weighs        105gms, while this weightless Beauty Weighs Only 35gms.
   

   
   
   
   

   
   
3. Easy To Carry- As mentioned above, it occupies lesser Volume than the Conventional             Ones,making it Easier to Carry.
4. The Biggest Pro- Can be used anywhere, over any surface. It is very handy for those who travel a  lot but hate to use their Laptop's Track-pad.

-What We Didn't Like

1. Annoying Laser- Because this device is overdependent on lasers, it throws out a fairly sharp   laser. Dont worry, this will not damage anything barring your eyes. Should be used  carefully to avoid contact with the eye. Also, at times, you may end up projecting a Laser on your Screen just like we're doing right now! This will not damage anything, you may choose to ignore it. But for those who do not like such this device is a big NO.
2. The Strap-   The Strap at times can get a bit sweaty after working for more than a couple o hours. Though this can fetch the device a big KICK from our recommendations, it works otherwise. The Strap ends up reminding you that you've been working overtime! So, you need to get up and take a break.
3. Its Still Wired-    To all the manufacturers : "Please give us a Wireless Version". The Wire can   get a bit tangly at times.

• THE VERDICT

Priced at around Rs.250-300, this one definitely does not burn a hole in your pocket. Despite all the CONs, we did not find any which could pose to be considered as a serious defect to this product. The Mouse works just fine for use at HOME and casual gaming purposes along-with the purpose of showing off your new Tech to the people around you, it gets a BIG NO for use in the Commercial Sector. Then again, Funky stuff is better kept at home than at the office and with the advancements in Technology, who knows what shape will this Funky device take one day.

So, if you wish to buy a new cool and funky mouse for your HOME ACTIVITIES, without paying too much for it, THIS ONE IS JUST FOR YOU.
