"Raindrops fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me"

-BJ Thomas

This beautiful song hit the Top of the Charts in 1969/1970. Rain, back then, provided joy to the people. Coming back to the modern times, ironically enough, rain gives us a headache regarding our Tech. Most of us consider Rain to be a Paranormal Activity for our Tech and Gadgets. However, we at Tech Busters have sought out a few ways to Bust This Paranormal Activity. Read below to find out how:

1. Guard 'em up-

More than those beautiful rain droplets, it is the exposure to moisture which tends to ruin our gadgets. Not most of us can afford that extraordinary yet rain-resistant Xperia Z or the ultra strong Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 or even the Motorola Defy XT for that matter. What we do advice you is to buy a SCREEN GUARD for your Gadgets, even double it up if you feel comfortable to do so. Available for most devices, this will make your device resistant to a few droplets of rain. Fairly effective in a Monsoon Drizzle or the Post-Rain Moist Wind.

2. Cover 'em up-

The Guards mentioned above may not function well in the case of a moderate to heavy rainfall. So, we advice you to buy a Hard Case for your Gadgets especially your phones or smartphones. Along with serving the purpose of minimizing the damage in case of heavy rain, they tend to enhance the look of your phone. Most of them fully cover the back of the phone, from where water is most likely to seep through to the battery component of the phone. And who knows, you might just endure a heavy rain without damaging your wonderful phone. Nowadays, there are several waterproof cases available online for you to have a look at, including the Bubble Shield for Smartphones. This case may cost you upto a thousand bucks, but then again, it is fairly effective.

3. Music to Thy Ear-

Now who doesn't fancy jogging in the rain !? This is where the headphones like Bose SIE2i and AQS-02 come into the picture. The Bose SIE2i claims to be able to work perfectly even with water flowing over it, thanks to its ingenious design. The hook-type ear-tips make sure that they hang onto your ears even while running. Instead of plugging off the ear canal, these hang in there without making contact with the ear canal, thus allowing you to be aware of the surroundings as you jog down the streets. The SIE2i also come with an inline remote control that works with the iPhone and iPod touch.

With amazing clarity and audio reproduction, these are perfect to run around in the monsoon.Pity though that this could cost you around Rs 8000 .

While the Bose SIE2i is good enough to work in the rain, it is still not waterproof. If you are looking for really waterproof earphone, then you need the AQS-02.

Designed specifically with water sports in mind, this earphone features in-ear design that seals off the ear canal, thus isolating the surroundings including water. A neckband that goes behind the neck helps secure it during the sporting activity. It comes with a short cord to connect to your MP3 player or you can also use the longer extension bundled along. The AQS-02 is a cheaper alternative at around Rs 1800.

4. Dont Let That Battery Drain Out-

Alas! Monsoon and Power-cuts go hand in hand in India. Our Gadgets being our only support to endure those Massive Power Failures. More than often though, the battery is not sufficient enough to survive these power cuts. This is time when Portable Chargers act as a hero and rescue us from that Gruesome Power Villain. Available abundantly in the market as well as online, you may be spoilt for options. We would ecommend the iBall Portable Power Charger as this device a multi-purpose charger which comes with 8 different charging ports like micro USB, mini USB, Nokia 2 mm, MP3 Player, iPhone, iPod, Ericsson port and Samsung charging ports. The device features huge 5000 mAh battery capacity, built in Auto power saving, retractable USB cable and has an easy to carry portable design.

This multi-purpose charger is affordable too costing only 2499.However, you may choose to prefer any other charger as well.

5.Not The Internet Please-

WARNING!!! As the rains get heavier, the wired broadband users can be forced to withstand days without

having an access to the Internet facility. Internet has become an integral part of our lives. But, the Gruesome Monsoon can force your telephone as well as Internet Lines to get disrupted

(This as a matter of fact, is a bit of a personal experience). We would advice you to get a Mobile Data Pack activated or consider using Wireless Broadband for Laptops and Desktops. The Reliance Netconnect and Tata Photon Plus are fairly popular ones. IT IS ADVISED THAT YOU FOLLOW THIS STEP WITH THE HIGHEST PRIORITY as we do not wish to see our Blog Viewers get disrupted due to Internet Failure.

6. Carry That DATA-

Some of us would like to keep our important data on hand all the time and we would mostly carry it on a USB flash drive as it offers convenience and portability. However, rains can play havoc and destroy the drive leaving it useless in the process. Corsair has introduced the Flash Voyager3.0, a rugged flash drive that is shock-proof as well as water-proof, thus ensuring your data is safe no matter the weather conditions. This drive features a USB 3.0 interface as well for speedy data transfers. The cheapest model will cost you around Rs 1,599.

7. Capture The Rain-

While mobile phones do come with cameras, we think that photography is still best left to cameras. That brings us to waterproof cameras and the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FT20 fits the bill for starters. This point-and-shoot camera with a 16.1 mp CCD sensor features 4x optical zoom with image stabilization to suppress blur. It has a 25 mm wide angle lens and supports HD video recording. The FT20 is waterproof up to a depth of 5 metres, so you are good for underwater photography (or videography) while snorkeling. Additionally, this camera claims to be able to survive a drop of 1.5 meters, can work in freezing temperatures up to -10 degrees C, and is also dust-proof. You can make this gadget a part of your monsoon for Rs 12,990. Others like the Nikon COOLPIX AW110 will offer you a bit more features. The AW110 is available for Rs 16,950.

8. My Tough Lappy-

Now that we have mobile phones and cameras that brave the rains, why not a laptop that does the same? The Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 is an ideal laptop for the real road-warrior. This rugged laptop has MIL-STD 810 G certification for vibration and shock resistance, and IP65 for resistance to water and dust. The ports are protected by a water-tight flap. Internet connectivity options are available in the form of LAN, 3G, and WIMAX. This Windows 8 laptop is powered by an Intel Core i5-520M vPro CPU and has Intel HD graphics that drives the 13.1" high brightness (1100 cd/m2) display, which features circular polarisation for better outdoor visibility.Other Laptops are also available in the market which can endure a bit of rain.

Is it a suitcase, is it a rock. Naah! Its just The Panasonic Toughbook

9. App Me Please-

Summer Rains, You Can Never Predict Them. Well, now we can. To a certain extent that is. Confused
whether you should carry an umbrella in this weather?? Here come the weather apps. There are lots of weather apps that provide detailed forecasts, including the Weather Channel app and WeatherBug, but Accuweather has the cleanest design of the traditional weather apps while still providing radar maps, daily forecasts and metrological data. Moreover, it is available for free on both Android and IOS. Yahoo, on the other hand, gives you the eye-candy and the information. Available for free on the iPhone and Android, the newly redesigned app pulls in Flickr images to match the weather and time of day at your location. Swipe up and you'll get more detailed information, including a five-day forecast, a radar map (only available for iPhone), and sun and moon information. Of all the apps featured in this article and the video above, Yahoo's app has become the app we check most often.

So, go on secure your Tech or buy new ones and rejoice in the MONSOON!!
THE TECH BUSTERS WISH YOU A VERY PLEASANT MONSOON
BECAUSE, THE RAIN CAN NEVER BE A PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
