Though the title may suggest that you have somehow managed to make your way across to a site discussing about medical stuff, you can be least assured that you are still on the official BLOG of The Tech Busters.

Smartphones,
the modern telecommunication devices which have significantly transformed our lives, giving a whole new definition to the word phone. But how safe are we using them?? In the recent past we had heard about the radiation from these wonderful devices affecting our Nervous Systems. But now we've come to know that these devices can actually explode. Not an explosion to wipe off a community, but definitely an explosion great enough to injure you seriously if not kill you!!

First we had a Samsung smartphone explode in Dubai and the incidents in Switzerland and Abu Dhabi where smartphone owners reported their phones catching fire and a few days ago it was the turn of a Hong Kong resident, where a Galaxy S4 caught fire and subsequently burned down his entire apartment!! While the stories mount and Samsung investigates we thought we'd take a quick look at the reasons why a battery might flame on and let you know how to avoid your phone becoming a really expensive cigarette lighter.

Please note that we do not intend to scare you but we wish to ensure that you take enough precautions to avoid such circumstances. To begin with, it is important for us to keep in mind that the chances of any electronic device exploding or catching fire, be it a smartphone, clock radio or tablet are very slim and typically only occur in events where there are serious flaws in product assembly or in the even more unlikely scenario that there is a product design flaw. It is not just one factor which causes these modern Tech stuffs to explode but a variety of such issues which causes these 207th bone of your body to become potential killers.

But before we start giving you methods to prevent these devices from exploding, having dedicated the past 4-5 years of our lives to Science, we take it as our responsibility to explain to you why such stuff even happens.

Lighter, less expensive and more energy dense than other secondary battery technologies, lithium-ion has become the dominant form of rechargeable battery today. It powers everything from mobile phones and laptops to cars and commercial jets. But there is one little problem—these batteries don't just short circuit, they explode into flames. If overheated or overcharged, Li-ion batteries may suffer thermal runaway and cell rupture. In extreme cases this can lead to combustion. Deep discharge may short-circuit the cell, in which case recharging would be unsafe. However, the chances for this to happen are very minute as these lithium-ion battery packs contain fail-safe circuitry that shuts down the battery when its voltage is outside the safe range and undergo various stages of test to ensure that they meet their safety requirement.

Then why do they EXPLODE??

If the battery gets hot enough to ignite the electrolyte, you are going to get a fire. When a fire like this happens, it is usually caused by an internal short in the battery. Since lithium-ion batteries are so energetic, they get very hot. The heat causes the battery to vent the organic solvent used as an electrolyte, and the heat (or a nearby spark) can light it. Once that happens inside one of the cells, the heat of the fire cascades to the other cells and the whole pack goes up in flames. Or in simple words, The devices tended to explode and cause severe damages if improperly handled, compromised due to an unauthorized repair or powered up with the use of fake chargers. It is a widely believed misconception that even inexpensive batteries manufactured by unknown companies are just as reliable as those produced by original leading market brands. However this is not true. As mobile phone batteries progressively become thinner to accommodate the ever changing slim design needs of smartphones, the space in the battery available to keep the negative and positive plate’s apart similarly simultaneously decreases. What this means is that, if batteries are not made up to standard and something happens to come between the two plates which are typically separated by an increasingly thin separator, then chances of battery explosions or flame ups basically increase when such batteries are put under high levels of stress via overcharging.Manufactures that follow all the right guidelines and procedures in their battery production process generally produce safe long lasting products; however some manufactures opt to cut corners with the aim of cutting costs, undercutting completion and making higher profits – an action that obviously leads to dangerous outcomes.
In some cases, the user may not even exist to cure these outcomes. But, we can surely prevent this by following the given Preventive Measures.

Prevention:

1. Always go for original manufacturer battery brands and phone accessories or in case where unavailable, well know replacement brands.
2. DO Not leave your device in a hot place particularly when it is charging since doing so only contributes to making overheating issues worse.
3. NEVER USE THE PHONE WHILE ITS CHARGING!
4. Ensure you charge and use your device in a well-ventilated area if using while it charges.
5.Don't use chargers or batteries that aren't designed to work with a particular phone. Users should be particularly wary of knock-offs and counterfeit accessories.

6.And surprisingly, charging your battery once it hits 50% is actually a good thing. Li-ion batteries don't suffer from memory issues like some batteries, but they can be damaged by low-voltage.

And Finally a Few Tips from Duracell:

1. Don't store batteries in the refrigerator or freezer. Batteries are best kept in a dry place at normal room temperature. Prolonged exposure to extreme heat or cold can reduce battery life and/or quality. Allowing cold batteries to slowly warm up to normal room temperature (10C-25C) should restore normal operation.
2. Be prepared with spare batteries for important occasions. Do you really want to miss a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity because you don't have spare batteries for your camera? Buy batteries with the longest freshness date available, and use those on hand with the closest freshness date first.
3. Replace all your device's batteries at the same time. Mixing old and new batteries, or batteries of different types or brands, in a device can lead to battery leakage and device damage.
4. Be sure to align your battery's positive (+) and negative (-) terminals correctly when inserting them into a device. Some devices may appear to work properly if one battery is inserted incorrectly, but this can lead to battery leakage or rupture.
5. Remove batteries from a device when it is not expected to be in use for several months. Batteries should also be removed from equipment while it is being powered by household (AC) current.
6. Always replace the battery or batteries in your equipment with the size and type of battery specified by the equipment manufacturer. Using the wrong type or size could cause malfunction or equipment damage.
7. Do not store batteries loosely or carry them loose in your pocket or purse. They can be shorted by contact with metal objects and leak or rupture.
8. Primary batteries should be discarded with your regular household trash. Never dispose of batteries in fire.
9. Never attempt to recharge a battery unless the battery specifically is marked "rechargeable."
10. Keep battery contact surfaces and battery compartment contacts clean by rubbing them with a clean pencil eraser or a clean cloth each time you replace batteries.

So, you shouldn't just Stop using your devices, you should follow these Preventive Measures in order to ensure that your love with your Tech devices continues to blossom.

We are sure that you would be knowing about or at least heard the news that the US government is apparently spying on almost every digital bit that passes through the nation’s optical fiber highways or is stored in data centers inside its borders. While we can’t be certain of the extent of the US government’s spying on people throughout the world, it would be hopelessly naive to believe that no snooping occurs at all.

How does it affect you?

India was one of the 38 'targets' which were spied by the NSA. That means that there are people out there who know exactly what you do over the internet. The US intelligence community doesn’t actually care if you’re searching for porn, or how to grow your own weed but we all have things we want to hide, from our loved ones, from our friends, from our communities, and from the government. If you went up to Barack Obama, or some other senior figure, and asked to see his personal email or credit card bill, what do you think their response would be?

How to protect yourself

As it turns out Google, Bing, Yahoo – all the major search engines track your search history and build profiles on you, serving different results based on your search history. So if you are tired of being tracked take a look at these alternative search engines

1. DuckDuckGo.com

DuckDuckGo is a popular search engine for the privacy-conscious and our favourite among the anonymous search engines. As its privacy page says, DuckDuckGo doesn’t log any personally identifiable information. DuckDuckGo doesn’t use cookies to identify you, and it discards user agents and IP addresses from its server logs. DuckDuckGo doesn’t event attempt to generate an anonymized identifier to tie searches together – DuckDuckGo has no way of knowing whether two searches even came from the same computer.

Its home page is simple and clean – even more so than Google’s. Because DuckDuckGo knows nothing about you, it can’t serve different results to different users. You’ll get the same results as everyone else.

2. Startpage.com

If like us you all prefer Google’s search results and just want more privacy, try Ixquick’s Startpage. Startpage searches Google for you – when you submit a search, Startpage submits the search to Google and returns the results to you. All Google sees is a large amount of searches coming from Startpage’s servers – they can’t tie any searches to you or track your searches.

Startpage discards all personally identifiable information. Like DuckDuckGo, Startpage doesn’t use cookies, it immediately discards IP addresses, and it doesn’t keep a record of searches performed.

Startpage also includes a proxy feature — you can open a page in Ixquick’s proxy directly from the search results. This is slower than normal browsing, but websites won’t be able to see your IP address. The proxy also disables JavaScript to protect your privacy.

3. Ixquick.com

Ixquick is the main search engine from the company that runs Startpage. Unlike Startpage, Ixquick pulls results from a variety of sources instead of only Google – this can be a good or a bad thing, depending on how much you like Google’s search results.

Ixquick and Startpage have essentially the same design. Ixquick includes the same privacy features Startpage does, including the Ixquick proxy links in the search results.

4. Blekko.com

Blekko doesn’t go as far as DuckDuckGo and Ixquick, but it’s still a big improvement over Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Blekko does log personally identifiable information, but deletes it within 48 hours. In contrast, Google stores this information for 9 months – and then anonymizes it without actually deleting it.
You can disable the data collection entirely by enabling the SuperPrivacy setting. Blekko even lets you disable ads entirely. One of the features that we liked a lot.

5. Proxy

Still want to use google but not be tracked? Want to get the best of both worlds? Don't worry we have a solution for you. For those of you, who watch American tv shows on hulu.com might be knowing this.

One of the easiest ways to hide your computer, and thus hide yourself, online is to use proxies. Proxies act as a filter between you and the rest of the Web. You can, for instance, connect to the Web through a proxy in United States even though you're in India. We are not going to give you a tutorial here on how to use proxy for your web browser. You can easily google, oops! Search it search engine of your choice.

However, there are limitations in using proxies. Firstly, if you use proxy to connect to a web server of, say the United States, you will get search results local to that proxy, in this case US, and not your native country. Secondly, using proxies is not completely anonymous, as there can still be traffic analysis and other programs used to counter proxies.

A couple of months back, we came across a small kid playing a video game on a regular TV screen. Though we did not heed to whatever he was doing at first, his persistence and passion forced us to take notice. Looking at him play forced us to rewind a few years of our lives, to a time when we used to play similar games. We were busy cherishing our memories, when we were startled by a noise. The kid had apparently got bugged up by the fact that he was not able to advance to the next level and had punched his controller in disgust. When we enquired about his further plans, there was a sudden gleam in his eyes as he spoke that he would make his own game. This gleam lasted about an hour and then he was back with his video-game. Ironically, that gleam ended up mesmerizing us and here we are presenting you with a post about building your own game, after doing an intensive bit of a research:

  • Where do you start on your dream game idea?

We feel that starting is the biggest hurdle for a lot of people because they don’t realize that everything started out as nothing and built upon itself until it became what it was destined to be. When your dream game is sitting in your head and you take that first step towards creating it, it can be very overwhelming to go from a state of imagination to implementation. For someone who has never made a game, something as simple as making a character move can be something that just seem like a huge impossible hurdle and can quickly become a huge discouraging defeat. It doesn’t have to be like this, the key is to start small.
It’s very important to take things one step at a time. If you approach your dream game all at once, chances are you will get frustrated and overwhelmed. If you approach the same dream game one little step at a time, your chances of realizing your vision are exponentially higher.

Breaking your game down into small pieces forces you to analyze and evaluate your ideas on a deeper level. This is essential because you always want to be open to changes, you never want to set yourself into a path that you feel you can in no way deviate from. Deviation from the plan can yield the most interesting parts of a game. It’s a more organic way of developing because you are thinking within the game system and are applying new ideas to ideas that have already formed.
No task is too small, no amount of progress is too little. What is important is that you do not get frustrated and you continue to work on your game.

  • What programming language should you prefer?

This is the second most common question which could go through your mind. But to be honest we don’t like this question because it is a question we cannot answer. A possible and sensible answer to the question would be with “whatever language you feel the most comfortable with”. We don’t think this answers people’s questions effectively because we feel people are looking for a definite answer or they are just starting out and do not feel comfortable with any language. We at Tech Busters though, will try to elaborate this answer to maybe help you understand how to choose a language that is best for you.

If you are looking for advice on what programming language to start with, you don’t need to concern yourself with “Will Flash run on iOS” or “Does Xbox run Java” . Your foreseeable end game at the starting point is realizing a game, not releasing it or selling it. These questions are important when worrying about shipping a game, but shipping a game is way easier than realizing a game. You can worry about shipping your game later.

Find a language that clicks with you and start coding. In the beginning it is important to have as much instant gratification as possible. You want to be able to get something on the screen quick and build from there. You want to be able to edit what you create and add on to it easily. Instant gratification is key to staying motivated when starting out, you probably don’t want to be learning a new language while making your game. If you try to learn a new language while creating your game, chances are you will spend weeks reading and have nothing to show for it except knowledge that you have not yet been able to apply to your game. That can be pretty discouraging.

Stick to what you know, or go the easiest most comfortable route possible to acquiring skills to start work on your game. So if you know a little Flash, use Flash, if you use C++, use C++, if you only use Java, then use Java. There is no such thing as “the official game development language”. ALWAYS remember that. Minecraft is written in Java, Super Meat Boy is written in C++, Farmville is written in Flash, some other game people play is written in HTML 5, some other game people play was made on Index cards. The point is: It doesn’t matter. Find a way you can make your game comfortably, and make it with that.

However, once you get the ball rolling, you will want to reach out of your comfort zone and learn new things if you want to grow as a game developer. Worry about growing later, in the meantime get your base established and start coding.

If you don't know any languge and are looking for a place to start, We would recommend Flash, Game Maker, Unity or something similar. All those programs make it very easy to get something on the screen quickly and with a very small learning curve. You don't want to start out with something like C++ if you have no experience with any other programming language and are anxious to start creating your game.

  • What books or tutorials should you prefer?

There are two books that we would recommend but they are only for C++ development and they are not beginner books at all. They are Effective C++ and More Effective C++. These are more advanced C++ books so if you don’t know C++, do not be like “Oh I need those to make games”. You don’t.

Other than those two, we haven’t read any other books. The way we learn is by reading SDK documentation. It’s not very typical, but that's how we learn.

We do recommend going on line and looking up tutorials for things. The internet is full of example programs, tutorials . There are no tutorials that we recommend, mainly because we haven’t gone through any but we do know the resources online are abundant and varying.

We DO NOT recommend copying and pasting from tutorials to make your game. You aren’t learning anything that way, you are just copying. That goes double for open source programs. They are fine to look at, study, and reference, but they are not a means of making the game for you. You will not become a good and effective programmer by copying and pasting source code into your game unless you fully understand it. Do not cheat yourself this way, take the extra time and understand something before you use it.

  • What software should you use to create the game?

We feel when this question is asked, its being asked by people that assume there is a magical tool that makes games for you. Fact of the matter is there are tools that do a bunch of the engine stuff for you. If you aren’t interested in learning a programming language for the purposes of building a game engine look at something like Unity or UDK. There is a cost to this though. You are limited by the

system presented to you with those tools. These tools are full of features that are well built, stable, and amazing, but sometimes they will not do what you want.We tried to use Visual Studio for development, but we could just as easily use Eclipse, Code Warrior, XCode, or Notepad and a compiler. Just like selecting a programming language, it doesn’t matter what you use.

For art and animation, you can use Flash.

  • How do you stay motivated to finish what you start?

There is no secret to staying motivated and there really isn’t advice we can give you to stay motivated on your project.

When you believe in and love what you are working on, it is difficult to stop working on it.

You obsess over it, you want to add to it, you want to make it better, and you really want to see it completed. Believing in what you are working on tends to shine through in the finished game. You are more likely to spend more time on extra polish, add features you think make the game better, just generally go above and beyond and really make the game yours.

  • How can you get your game on Steam/Xbox/PS3/WiiU/Anything else?

This is a question no one should ever be asking when they are first starting out or even if they have a game they are working on already. Your end game should be “I’m going to make a good game”. The path to getting your games on any of these platforms is public knowledge. There is no secret email, there is no magic form you fill out, you don’t need to know anyone in the biz, nobody’s cousin works at one of these places and can get you a secret meeting, nothing like that exists.

It’s very simple to be approved for any of these platforms: all you need is a good game. That’s it. It’s a harsh reality that some people refuse to believe. A good game will gain attention and serious consideration from platform holders based on its own merits with a little help from you. Talk about your game, be excited about it and if your game is good and other people like it your enthusiasm will spread to others.

If your game is not good, you are going to have a very rough time getting it on distribution platforms. Focus on making your game the best it can be, don’t focus on what platforms you can get it on. A good game sells itself way more than exposure on a platform will ever do.

  • What if you finish my game and no one wants it?

If you work hard, and you think your game is the best thing ever and you still can’t get on any distribution platform don’t take that as a failure and a sign that you should stop making video games. Very few people hit a home run with their first game. People might think your baby is ugly...that's fine though. Keep making games. Be inspired by setbacks and one day if you have the strength to push through it, chances are you will realize your dream.

  • Conclusion

Just make your game with whatever you can, start small and worry about other things later. Programming languages and software are irrelevant to creating a game so choose what you are comfortable with or what you want to learn but don't take on too much when starting out. Make sure you make enough progress to stay motivated and keep frustration at a minimum. Love your game, talk about it, obsess over it and it'll be hard not to work on it.

And there you go, we have just busted a few myths about making games!!!!!!!

Remember when we wrote that your life could be surrounded by Tech without burning a hole in your pocket, well, we took it seriously. So, here's the review of one such gadget.

A mouse is of the most essential components of the computer which allows the user to exercise control over software components. We guess you already know this.
But,a traditional mouse requires a mouse-pad, be it a laser one or a ball one. So, here comes a mouse which can be controlled without the use of any mouse-pad.All it requires is a surface, and by a surface, we literally mean any surface, right from the palm of your hand to any lucky cushion or even your keyboard!!!!!

The Finger Mouse

  • So, What Exactly is this Finger Mouse Thing??

To be precise, this is another advancement in technology which is meant to spoil the user. It was created with a view to relax the user from the discomfort of lifting your finger to click. Oh boy!! But yes, it can get a bit discomforting to work with a Laptop's Track-pad. So, in comes the Finger Mouse. Like its name, this very
compact mouse can be worn on your finger with the help of a strap. Wow! It must have been designed by a Tech Geek, with a view to use it as a wedding ring!!
Salute!!!

  • How Does It Actually Work??

It works on the same principle as that of a Laser Mouse as it also projects a Laser. The only difference being in the dimensions of the Mouse. To be honest, this Finger Mouse completely changes your visual perception of a mouse. It does not resemble a Mouse, but still the word Mouse is not a misnomer as it still allows
you to control the cursor on the Computer Screen. All that you need to do is to hold the Mouse over any surface such that the Laser is reflected back into the body of the Mouse, and you will be able to control the cursor. It is advised that the user should wear the mouse in his index finger, as this allows him to click the buttons on the body of the mouse with the thumb. So, now you can actually Right/Left Click with your Thumb. It even provides the user with the facility to scroll. In Short, it works on the basic principle that the whole body of the mouse, which was designed to fit in the palm, is not required. Though it was not designed
with a motive to save space, it ends up saving a few minuscules of space.

  • Is It As Effective As The Conventional Mouse??

Using it for over a month now, and we feel that it is as effective as any other Mouse. Dragging the Cursor or clicking it never posed a problem.
Yes, there are certain flaws, but we shall discuss them a bit later.

  • What About Gaming With This Mouse??

Now this is the most pleasing section when it comes to a review!! We most often use a Mouse in First Person Shooting Games. So, in order to give it a try, we strapped the mouse into the Right Hand Index Finger. Traditionally, the right hand is usually on the movement controls, so, to strap the mouse on the Right seems to be a sensible option. Onward with the game now, the mouse poses no problem when the character moves and to access the mouse controls, all that you have to do is to bend your finger such that it is near a screen, which in this case, can be the arrow keys as well. WOW! So, instead of moving your hand, all that you have to do is bend your right index finger. To our style of play, it does not act as a hurdle, but to Hardcore Gamers, it shall not be the most pleasing device. Then again, we do not intend to compare this to a Joystick. The Joystick would win any day!! But, for all the other Gamers out there who still prefer a keyboard and a mouse, this New Finger Mouse deserves a chance.(PS: It took us about 2 hours to write this section alone. If you know what we mean!!)

  • THE BUSINESS PART

-What We Like

  1. Trendy- Cool to look at, one can immediately make an impression while using this device.
  2. Light Weight- A Conventional Mouse Weighs Around 65gms, A Wireless Mouse Weighs        105gms, while this weightless Beauty Weighs Only 35gms.

  3. Easy To Carry- As mentioned above, it occupies lesser Volume than the Conventional             Ones, making it Easier to Carry.
  4. The Biggest Pro- Can be used anywhere, over any surface. It is very handy for those who travel a  lot but hate to use their Laptop's Track-pad.

-What We Didn't Like

  1. Annoying Laser- Because this device is overdependent on lasers, it throws out a fairly sharp   laser. Dont worry, this will not damage anything barring your eyes. Should be used  carefully to avoid contact with the eye. Also, at times, you may end up projecting a Laser on your Screen just like we're doing right now! This will not damage anything, you may choose to ignore it. But for those who do not like such this device is a big NO.
  2. The Strap-   The Strap at times can get a bit sweaty after working for more than a couple o hours. Though this can fetch the device a big KICK from our recommendations, it works otherwise. The Strap ends up reminding you that you've been working overtime! So, you need to get up and take a break.
  3. Its Still Wired-    To all the manufacturers : "Please give us a Wireless Version". The Wire can   get a bit tangly at times.

  • THE VERDICT

Priced at around Rs.250-300, this one definitely does not burn a hole in your pocket. Despite all the CONs, we did not find any which could pose to be considered as a serious defect to this product. The Mouse works just fine for use at HOME and casual gaming purposes along-with the purpose of showing off your new Tech to the people around you, it gets a BIG NO for use in the Commercial Sector. Then again, Funky stuff is better kept at home than at the office and with the advancements in Technology, who knows what shape will this Funky device take one day.
So, if you wish to buy a new cool and funky mouse for your HOME ACTIVITIES, without paying too much for it, THIS ONE IS JUST FOR YOU.

"Raindrops fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me"

-BJ Thomas

This beautiful song hit the Top of the Charts in 1969/1970. Rain, back then, provided joy to the people. Coming back to the modern times, ironically enough, rain gives us a headache regarding our Tech. Most of us consider Rain to be a Paranormal Activity for our Tech and Gadgets. However, we at Tech Busters have sought out a few ways to Bust This Paranormal Activity. Read below to find out how:

1. Guard 'em up-

More than those beautiful rain droplets, it is the exposure to moisture which tends to ruin our gadgets. Not most of us can afford that extraordinary yet rain-resistant Xperia Z or the ultra strong Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 or even the Motorola Defy XT for that matter. What we do advice you is to buy a SCREEN GUARD for your Gadgets, even double it up if you feel comfortable to do so. Available for most devices, this will make your device resistant to a few droplets of rain. Fairly effective in a Monsoon Drizzle or the Post-Rain Moist Wind.

2. Cover 'em up-

The Guards mentioned above may not function well in the case of a moderate to heavy rainfall. So, we advice you to buy a Hard Case for your Gadgets especially your phones or smartphones. Along with serving the purpose of minimizing the damage in case of heavy rain, they tend to enhance the look of your phone. Most of them fully cover the back of the phone, from where water is most likely to seep through to the battery component of the phone. And who knows, you might just endure a heavy rain without damaging your wonderful phone. Nowadays, there are several waterproof cases available online for you to have a look at, including the Bubble Shield for Smartphones. This case may cost you upto a thousand bucks, but then again, it is fairly effective.

3. Music to Thy Ear-

Now who doesn't fancy jogging in the rain !? This is where the headphones like Bose SIE2i and AQS-02 come into the picture. The Bose SIE2i claims to be able to work perfectly even with water flowing over it, thanks to its ingenious design. The hook-type ear-tips make sure that they hang onto your ears even while running. Instead of plugging off the ear canal, these hang in there without making contact with the ear canal, thus allowing you to be aware of the surroundings as you jog down the streets. The SIE2i also come with an inline remote control that works with the iPhone and iPod touch.

With amazing clarity and audio reproduction, these are perfect to run around in the monsoon.Pity though that this could cost you around Rs 8000 .

While the Bose SIE2i is good enough to work in the rain, it is still not waterproof. If you are looking for really waterproof earphone, then you need the AQS-02.

Designed specifically with water sports in mind, this earphone features in-ear design that seals off the ear canal, thus isolating the surroundings including water. A neckband that goes behind the neck helps secure it during the sporting activity. It comes with a short cord to connect to your MP3 player or you can also use the longer extension bundled along. The AQS-02 is a cheaper alternative at around Rs 1800.

4. Dont Let That Battery Drain Out-

Alas! Monsoon and Power-cuts go hand in hand in India. Our Gadgets being our only support to endure those Massive Power Failures. More than often though, the battery is not sufficient enough to survive these power cuts. This is time when Portable Chargers act as a hero and rescue us from that Gruesome Power Villain. Available abundantly in the market as well as online, you may be spoilt for options. We would ecommend the iBall Portable Power Charger as this device a multi-purpose charger which comes with 8 different charging ports like micro USB, mini USB, Nokia 2 mm, MP3 Player, iPhone, iPod, Ericsson port and Samsung charging ports. The device features huge 5000 mAh battery capacity, built in Auto power saving, retractable USB cable and has an easy to carry portable design.

This multi-purpose charger is affordable too costing only 2499.However, you may choose to prefer any other charger as well.

5.Not The Internet Please-

WARNING!!! As the rains get heavier, the wired broadband users can be forced to withstand days without

having an access to the Internet facility. Internet has become an integral part of our lives. But, the Gruesome Monsoon can force your telephone as well as Internet Lines to get disrupted

(This as a matter of fact, is a bit of a personal experience). We would advice you to get a Mobile Data Pack activated or consider using Wireless Broadband for Laptops and Desktops. The Reliance Netconnect and Tata Photon Plus are fairly popular ones. IT IS ADVISED THAT YOU FOLLOW THIS STEP WITH THE HIGHEST PRIORITY as we do not wish to see our Blog Viewers get disrupted due to Internet Failure.

6. Carry That DATA-

Some of us would like to keep our important data on hand all the time and we would mostly carry it on a USB flash drive as it offers convenience and portability. However, rains can play havoc and destroy the drive leaving it useless in the process. Corsair has introduced the Flash Voyager3.0, a rugged flash drive that is shock-proof as well as water-proof, thus ensuring your data is safe no matter the weather conditions. This drive features a USB 3.0 interface as well for speedy data transfers. The cheapest model will cost you around Rs 1,599.

7. Capture The Rain-

While mobile phones do come with cameras, we think that photography is still best left to cameras. That brings us to waterproof cameras and the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FT20 fits the bill for starters. This point-and-shoot camera with a 16.1 mp CCD sensor features 4x optical zoom with image stabilization to suppress blur. It has a 25 mm wide angle lens and supports HD video recording. The FT20 is waterproof up to a depth of 5 metres, so you are good for underwater photography (or videography) while snorkeling. Additionally, this camera claims to be able to survive a drop of 1.5 meters, can work in freezing temperatures up to -10 degrees C, and is also dust-proof. You can make this gadget a part of your monsoon for Rs 12,990. Others like the Nikon COOLPIX AW110 will offer you a bit more features. The AW110 is available for Rs 16,950.

8. My Tough Lappy-

Now that we have mobile phones and cameras that brave the rains, why not a laptop that does the same? The Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 is an ideal laptop for the real road-warrior. This rugged laptop has MIL-STD 810 G certification for vibration and shock resistance, and IP65 for resistance to water and dust. The ports are protected by a water-tight flap. Internet connectivity options are available in the form of LAN, 3G, and WIMAX. This Windows 8 laptop is powered by an Intel Core i5-520M vPro CPU and has Intel HD graphics that drives the 13.1" high brightness (1100 cd/m2) display, which features circular polarisation for better outdoor visibility.Other Laptops are also available in the market which can endure a bit of rain.

9. App Me Please-

Summer Rains, You Can Never Predict Them. Well, now we can. To a certain extent that is. Confused
whether you should carry an umbrella in this weather?? Here come the weather apps. There are lots of weather apps that provide detailed forecasts, including the Weather Channel app and WeatherBug, but Accuweather has the cleanest design of the traditional weather apps while still providing radar maps, daily forecasts and metrological data. Moreover, it is available for free on both Android and IOS. Yahoo, on the other hand, gives you the eye-candy and the information. Available for free on the iPhone and Android, the newly redesigned app pulls in Flickr images to match the weather and time of day at your location. Swipe up and you'll get more detailed information, including a five-day forecast, a radar map (only available for iPhone), and sun and moon information. Of all the apps featured in this article and the video above, Yahoo's app has become the app we check most often.
